Indian Education reformist conferred with prestigious Global Fellowship
The REX KARMAVEER GLOBAL FELLOWSHIP (RKGF) recognizes people who have the courage of conviction to think differently and walk the path less trodden and to act on alternative/innovative ideas which may make a difference in our world. It believes that every human being has a hero, a leader, a volunteer, a champion of change and a teacher within her or him and only a few people acknowledge and awaken this power within, to help inspire the change
The Not-for-Profit Institutional Excellence Forum (IEF) Founder Trustee, Mr. Amit Garg, received the prestigious REX Karmaveer Global Fellowship and Karmaveer Chakra for his commendable work towards capacity building within the Education Community in particular, and broader Society in general
REX KARMAVEER GLOBAL FELLOWS are people who have the intent to make a difference and are already making a difference by being voices of conscience and trying to make a difference in our world with their significant actions to be the change. The bedrock of the fellowships is based on the thought by REX founder Jeroninio Almeida “I believe that everyone is a hero, a leader, a volunteer, a teacher and a champion of change. All we need to do is acknowledge and understand this and then help others to also understand the same. That’s all it takes to be a hero, a leader, a volunteer, a teacher and a champion of change.”
Karmaveer Chakra is the National Medallion of honour for proactive voluntary citizen action to Be & Lead the Change. These awards is a recognition of real life unsung heroes who believe ‘It is better to light a candle than to curse the darkness’. It applauds the social commitment of concerned individuals, who have proactively and voluntarily worked for bringing a positive transformation in the society and the world we live in.
Mr. Amit Garg is on a pilgrimage to build a culture of performance excellence in Indian Education. This journey and effort is close to his heart and he draws from his own personal experience and belief that every student has the right to dream about their future as per their inherent abilities and that it is the collective responsibility of the community to fulfil this dream. He sees the Indian Education System suffering from a mind-set of mediocrity and strives to bring a change from its current “attitude of chalega” to “attitude of Excellence”! Drawing like-minded professionals from the Industry & Academia, he is spearheading this core shift by setting up Institutional Excellence Forum.
The forum is working towards making India a “Preferred Destination” for Higher Education by developing Excellence Attitude and Making India a better informed career hub. IEF plans to set up Career Excellence Centres in Schools across various states, that will identify true interests & abilities of each student, Constitute Scholarships to promote adoption of non-STEM education and also provide an impetus to the aspirational value of Vocational Education.
The award commends Mr. Amit Garg for possessing the conviction and compassion to stand up, speak out and lead the change with his positive attitude! The management of REX, which has selected his nomination after thorough due diligence said that they were glad to have found a true champion of social justice issues and wish that more and more citizens gave their time, involvement and humane feelings towards addressing social justice issues and being the change and role models for other citizens to follow.
